We are thrilled to share exciting news: our XAPHIRO quantum computer, developed for the DLR Quantum Computing Initiative, has successfully trapped single ions at the laboratory at DESY in Hamburg!
This marks a key milestone for the XAPHIRO consortium โ a collaboration between QUDORA Technologies and NXP Semiconductors โ signaling the successful completion of the systemโs design and assembly phase.
Why is this exciting? Trapping ions is the first moment everything must work in harmony โ vacuum system, lasers, optics, electronics, and our microfabricated 50-qubit quantum processor. And it just did as you can see in the video below showing a magnified image of fluorescence light emitted by a single ion confined by electric fields in our microfabricated quantum processor.
Huge shout-out to our passionate team driving this forward every day and turning our vision of a scalable quantum computer into reality!
Whatโs next? In the coming months, weโll dive into detailed system characterization, calibration, and fine-tuning to prepare for first quantum operations. Stay tuned for more updates as we bring quantum computing to life.
