QUDORA Japan K.K. Selected for NEDO Project to Develop Universal Cryogenic Quantum Packaging and Design Rules in Collaboration with AIST and Kyocera

[Tokyo, Japan October 6, 2026] — QUDORA Japan K.K., the Japanese subsidiary of deep-tech trapped-ion quantum computing hardware developer QUDORA Technologies, today announced its selection for a national research and development project under Japan’s New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO). Conducted in collaboration with the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST / G-QuAT) and Kyocera Corporation, the project focuses on “R&D of Cryogenic Quantum Packaging and Design Rules Universally Applicable to Cryogenic Quantum Computers,” under NEDO’s flagship program: “Developing Post-5G Information and Communication Systems / Acceleration of Development and Demonstration of Next-Generation Quantum Computers for Solving Social Issues.”

Background & Project Scope:

Scaling next-generation quantum computing systems requires advanced hardware packaging capable of operating reliably at cryogenic temperatures while handling high-density wiring, optical interfaces, and thermal management. This collaborative initiative aims to establish standardized cryogenic packaging solutions and universal design rules that can be broadly applied across next-generation cryogenic quantum computing platforms.

Project Overview:

  • Funding Agency: New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO)
  • Project Program: Developing Post-5G Information and Communication Systems / Acceleration of Development and Demonstration of Next-Generation Quantum Computers for Solving Social Issues
  • R&D Theme: Research and Development of Cryogenic Quantum Packaging and Design Rules Universally Applicable to Cryogenic Quantum Computers
    (Japanese Theme Name: 低温量子コンピュータに共通して適用可能な低温量子パッケージとそのデザインルールの研究開発)

Project Participants:

  • QUDORA Japan K.K. (Participant, backed by QUDORA Technologies GmbH): Providing quantum hardware requirements, architecture integration, and validation based on scalable trapped-ion quantum technologies.
  • National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST): Research collaboration, test environments, and standardized evaluation.
  • Kyocera Corporation: Advanced materials, packaging engineering, and manufacturing design.

‘ We at QUDORA Japan are honored that NEDO has selected a collaborative project proposal led by Kyocera, with us as a key co-proposer, and AIST participating as a research partner.  We are dedicated to contributing to Japan’s vibrant quantum technology ecosystem and to expanding our operations in Japan,’ said Mr. Mitsuo Harahata, Country General Manager, QUDORA Japan. ‘Establishing universal cryogenic packaging and design rules is critical to overcoming the scaling bottlenecks in quantum hardware,’ said Dr. Amado Bautista-Salvador, CEO and co-founder of QUDORA Technologies. ‘Through this project, QUDORA continues its commitment to drive open, high-impact innovations needed to reach utility scale quantum computing.’
